Successful Alumni Networking Mixer Brings Together MCRS Community
By Summer Calderon
The Master of Conservation and Restoration Science (MCRS) program recently hosted its second annual Alumni Networking and Mixer event, once again uniting alumni, mentors, current students, and staff for an evening of connection and collaboration. The event took place at the Duck Club in Irvine, providing a welcoming and scenic backdrop for this event. Hosted by students Summer Calderon, Jazzmyn Luna, Nina Marchaindo, and program leaders Jennifer Long and Courtney Hunt, the event was a testament to the strength of the MCRS community. The first and second-year cohort students also played a crucial role in assisting with the organization and execution of the event, showcasing the collaborative spirit that defines the MCRS program.
The Alumni Networking and Mixer event offered a unique opportunity for alumni to reconnect with their peers and faculty, share their professional experiences, and provide valuable insights to current students. MCRS-affiliated mentors and professionals further enriched the event, allowing for a broader exchange of knowledge and networking opportunities. Throughout the evening, alumni and students were able to engage in meaningful conversations, exchange contact information, and discuss potential collaborations. “We are so happy to see the growth and enthusiasm for this event,” said Summer Calderon. “It’s an exciting opportunity for our alumni to stay connected with the program and for our current students to build their professional networks.”
As the MCRS program continues to expand, the Alumni Networking and Mixer event is set to return year after year. The students and program leadership hope to see it grow in scope and impact, creating a strong and supportive network of conservation and restoration professionals. This annual event not only strengthens the bonds within the MCRS community but also emphasizes the program’s commitment to fostering lasting connections and professional growth among its members. With this year’s event being successful, the program is looking forward to what the future holds for the MCRS alumni network.
